President of Republic calls on France to respect UN, AU resolutions | Sahara Press Service

Auserd (Refugee Camps), December 9, 2017 (SPS) – President of the Republic Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, has called on France to respect the resolutions of the United Nations and African Union on Western Sahara, in a speech at the opening of the works of the IX Congress of the Young Union (UJSARIO).

The President of the Republic reminded French President,. Manuel Macron, that any unilateral approach will undermine peace and cooperation in the North African region and southern Mediterranean.

He also recalled that the United Nations has clearly defined the way to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara, based on respect for the principle of self-determination and decolonization, and that the two parties to the conflict are the Kingdom of Morocco and the Saharawi people, through their only legitimate representative, the Polisario Front.

The President of the Republic thanked Algeria for its firm position of support for the Saharawi people and welcomed Africa, which embodied its united position through its continental organization, the African Union.

The IX Congress of the Youth Union (UJSARIO) continues its works for the second day in the wilaya of Auserd, Sahrawi refugee camps, attended by delegations from Algeria, Sweden, Spain, Guinea-Bissau, Tunisia, Jordan, Syria, Colombia, Mexico, France, the United States, Cuba, Namibia and Germany.
