NEW YORK (Nations unies),07 Août 2018(SPS) – L’émissaire de l’ONU pour le Sahara Occidental, M.Horst Kohler, fera mercredi un briefing au Conseil de Sécurité sur sa dernière tournée régionale visant à relancer les négociations entre le Front Polisario et le Maroc, à l’arrêt depuis 2012.
L’ancien Président allemand devrait informer le Conseil de Sécurité de «ses récentes activités» menées dans le cadre du processus onusien, précise l’agenda prévisionnel du Conseil de Sécurité pour le mois d’août.

El Aaiun (occupied territories), June 30, 2018 (SPS) – The Association for the Monitoring of the Natural Resources and for the Environment Protection in Western Sahara (AMREPNWS) held Friday a meeting with UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Horst Koehler, at MINURSO headquarters in the occupied city of El Aaiun, in the presence of the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Western Sahara, Head of MINURSO, Colin Stewart.
AMREPNWS representatives expressed to the Personal Envoy a deep dissatisfaction with the silence of the international community towards the blatant violation of Article 73 of the Charter of the United Nations by the Moroccan State and the non-fulfillment of its responsibilities towards the territory of Western Sahara as a territory that had not yet completed the decolonization process.
The meeting addressed the systematic looting of the natural resources and the destruction of the Sahrawi environment, the need for the United Nations to bear full responsibility toward the issue of the natural resources and to work as quickly as possible to create an international mechanism that will enable the people of Western Sahara to exercise their permanent sovereignty over their wealth and natural resources in accordance with their interests and development, in the light of enabling them to their inalienable right to self-determination through a free and fair referendum. El Aaiún (occupied territories), June 30, 2018 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Association of Victims of Grave Human Rights Violations Committed by the Moroccan State (ASVDH), held Friday a meeting UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Horst Köhler, at the headquarters of MINURSO in El Aaiún, the occupied capital of Western Sahara.
The meeting was attended by ASVDH members of the Executive Bureau, and Colin Stewart, UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Western Sahara, Head of MINURSO, according to ASVDH statement.
The meeting was an opportunity for ASVDH to shed light on the human rights situation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, a situation marked by continuous repression and violations of the civil, political, economic and social rights of the Sahrawis.
ASVDH addressed the recent suppression of Sahrawi demonstrations in the occupied cities of El Aaiún and Smara, on the eve of Mr. Koehler’s visit in region. (SPS)

El Aaiún (occupied territories), June 30, 2018 (SPS) – Representatives of the Collective of Saharawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) held Friday a meeting with UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Horst Köhler, in the presence of Colin Stewart, UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Western Sahara, Head of MINURSO, according to a CODESA press release.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of MINURSO in El Aaiún, the occupied capital of Western Sahara, at the request of officials of the United Nations Mission on the eve of the first visit of UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Horst Köhler, in the territory.
